301 Redirect
Definition
A permanent redirect that sends visitors (and search engines) from an old URL to a new one, preserving SEO value when you change or move a page.
Why it matters
Without 301 redirects, changing your website structure destroys your SEO rankings. Google will not find the new page and users clicking old links get a broken 404 error.
Example
A founder renames her service page from /services/social-media-management to /services/social-media. She sets a 301 redirect so Google and existing links still work.
