3PL

Third-Party Logistics

Definition

Outsourcing your warehousing, picking, packing, and shipping to a specialist fulfilment company. You send them your stock; they handle the rest.

Why it matters

Once you are shipping 50+ orders per week, packing from your living room becomes unsustainable. 3PLs let you scale fulfilment without renting a warehouse or hiring staff.

Example

You send 500 units to a 3PL warehouse. When an order comes in on Shopify, it automatically triggers the 3PL to pick, pack, and post it, without you lifting a finger.
