Abandoned Cart Email
Definition
An automated email sent to shoppers who added items to their cart but did not complete their purchase, reminding them to return and finish buying.
Why it matters
Approximately 70% of online shopping carts are abandoned. Abandoned cart emails recover 5-15% of those lost sales automatically, with almost no ongoing effort.
Example
A customer adds a £79 handbag to her cart and leaves. Two hours later she gets an email: "You left something behind. Your bag is waiting." She returns and completes the purchase.
