Above the Fold

Definition

The portion of a webpage visible without scrolling, the first thing every visitor sees when they land on your site.

Why it matters

Above the fold is the most valuable real estate on any page. You have approximately 3 seconds to communicate what you do and why it matters before visitors scroll or leave.

Example

Your homepage above the fold has your headline, one supporting sentence, a strong hero image, and one CTA button. Everything a visitor needs to decide whether to stay, without scrolling an inch.
