Asset

Definition

Anything of value that a business owns, including cash, equipment, stock, intellectual property, or property. That can be converted into economic benefit.

Why it matters

Understanding your assets helps you see what your business is really worth and what you can use as collateral for funding or leverage for growth.

Example

A brand's assets include: £10,000 in the bank, £8,000 of stock, a £2,500 laptop, and a trademark worth £5,000, total assets of £25,500.
