Attribution Model

Definition

A set of rules that decides which marketing touchpoint gets the credit when someone buys, especially when they saw several of your channels before purchasing.

Why it matters

Without an attribution model you cannot fairly judge which channels are pulling their weight, so you risk cutting the very things that drive your sales.

Example

A customer found you on TikTok, then clicked an email, then bought. Your attribution model decides whether TikTok, the email, or both share the credit.
