Behavioural Analytics
Definition
The analysis of how users interact with your product or website over time, including navigation paths, feature adoption, usage frequency, and in-product actions, rather than just transactional data.
Why it matters
Behavioural analytics surfaces insights about what users actually do versus what they say they want. It identifies which features drive retention, which workflows cause confusion, and which user segments are most engaged.
Example
Behavioural analytics reveals that users who complete 3 specific actions within their first week retain at 80% after 6 months. Users who do not complete those actions retain at 22%. You redesign onboarding to guide every new user through those three actions.
