Beta Testing

Definition

Testing a product with a selected group of real users before the official public launch, to identify bugs, usability issues, and gather feedback.

Why it matters

Beta testing surfaces problems that only real users find. Launching without it risks bad reviews, churn, and reputational damage from a broken product.

Example

A founder invites 50 people from her email list to test her app for free before launch. They discover a critical bug in the checkout flow she then fixes before going live.
