Board Observer

Definition

Someone who can attend board meetings and give input but cannot formally vote on decisions.

Why it matters

A board observer lets an investor stay close to your business without taking voting control, a lighter alternative to a board seat.

Example

A smaller investor takes a board observer role, attending meetings without a vote.
