Bounce Rate

Definition

The percentage of visitors who leave your website after viewing only one page, without clicking to any other page or taking any action.

Why it matters

A high bounce rate often indicates a mismatch between what visitors expected and what they found, or that your page loads too slowly, is hard to read, or has no clear next step.

Example

A landing page has a 78% bounce rate. The founder discovers visitors are arriving from a food blog ad, but the landing page is about business coaching, a message mismatch.
