Cart Abandonment
Definition
When a customer adds items to their online shopping cart but leaves the website without completing the purchase.
Why it matters
The average e-commerce cart abandonment rate is 70-75%. Recovering even 5-10% of abandoned carts through email sequences can meaningfully increase revenue.
Example
Out of 100 people who add a product to their cart, 70 leave without buying. You set up an automated 3-email sequence: a reminder, a testimonial, and a discount. 8 of the 70 come back and purchase.
