Change Request
Definition
A formal process for adding work to a project that falls outside the original agreed scope, including the additional cost and timeline implications.
Why it matters
Without a change request process, additional work erodes your margin silently. A professional change request process protects profitability and sets healthy client expectations.
Example
"I'd love to add that extra section. That falls outside our original scope, so it would be an additional £350 and 3 days. Shall I send a change request for your approval?" This is professional, not confrontational.
