Cohort

Definition

A group of customers who share a starting point, usually the month they first signed up or bought, tracked together over time.

Why it matters

Cohorts show whether your product is getting stickier. Comparing how long each month’s new customers stay tells you if recent changes are helping people stick around longer.

Example

You compare everyone who joined in January against everyone who joined in June to see which group is still subscribed after three months.
