Cold Lead

Definition

A prospect who has no prior awareness of or relationship with your brand. They do not know you, have not expressed interest, and require the full trust-building journey.

Why it matters

Understanding lead temperature helps you set realistic conversion expectations. Cold leads need 7-13 touchpoints before buying. Sending a sales pitch on first contact is almost always counterproductive.

Example

A stranger who finds you via a Google search is a cold lead. One who has followed you for 3 months and downloaded your guide is warm. One who messaged asking for a price is hot. Each needs a different approach.
