Competitive Analysis

Definition

The process of researching and evaluating your competitors. Their products, pricing, positioning, strengths, weaknesses, and marketing strategies.

Why it matters

Knowing your competition helps you differentiate, identify gaps, set competitive pricing, and avoid copying what is not working. It is not about copying them. It is about outmanoeuvring them.

Example

A new project management tool founders analyse Asana, Monday.com, and Notion: pricing, reviews, feature gaps, and customer complaints, then build specifically to solve unmet needs.
