Competitive Moat

Definition

A durable, hard-to-copy advantage that protects your business from competitors, brand loyalty, proprietary technology, unique community, or exclusive relationships.

Why it matters

Without a moat, any successful business model can be cloned and competed away. Building a moat means your advantage compounds rather than erodes over time.

Example

Your community of 10,000 founders is a moat. Your proprietary data, brand IP, or unique supplier agreements are moats. A competitor cannot replicate your relationships and trust overnight.
