Contract
Definition
A legally binding document between you and a client or supplier setting out the agreed scope, price, timeline, payment terms, and what happens if either party fails to deliver.
Why it matters
A contract protects both parties. Without one, scope creep is uncontrollable, non-payment is hard to enforce, and disputes have no clear resolution. Every service engagement needs one.
Example
Your contract states: deliverables (3 designs, 2 revisions), timeline (21 days), fee (£1,500), payment (50% upfront, 50% on delivery), late payment interest (8%). Signed before any work begins.
