E-Commerce & Product Sellingintermediate
Cross-sell
Definition
Recommending complementary products to a customer based on what they're already buying.
Why it matters
Cross-selling increases revenue per customer without additional acquisition costs. It also increases perceived value by surfacing products customers genuinely need.
Example
A customer buys a candle. You show them "You might also like: candle snuffer, wick trimmer, and luxury matches." They add the wick trimmer. AOV increases.
