DAU

Daily Active Users

Definition

The number of unique users who engage with a product on any given day, a key metric for measuring app engagement and product health.

Why it matters

DAU tells you how sticky your product is. A high DAU/MAU ratio means users are returning frequently. Investors watch DAU trends as a signal of retention and growth.

Example

A habit-tracking app has 10,000 MAU and 5,000 DAU, a 50% DAU/MAU ratio, indicating strong daily engagement.
