DAU/MAU Ratio

Definition

The ratio of Daily Active Users to Monthly Active Users, expressed as a percentage. It measures how sticky or habit forming a product is.

Why it matters

A high DAU/MAU ratio means users come back every day because the product is genuinely useful or habitual. Facebook targets 50% or above. Most B2B tools consider 20 to 30% strong. A very low ratio indicates engagement problems.

Example

Your app has 10,000 monthly active users but only 1,000 daily active users. DAU/MAU is 10%. Users are opening it roughly 3 days per month. This signals the product is not yet part of daily workflow.
