Day Rate

Definition

A fixed price for a full day of a service provider's time, common in consulting, photography, design, and training.

Why it matters

Day rates are more profitable than hourly rates because you are not penalised for working efficiently. A skilled professional who completes work in 4 hours still earns the full day rate.

Example

As a brand consultant, you charge a £850 day rate. A 3-day brand strategy project = £2,550. Invoiced upfront, no scope creep, clean deliverables. More profitable than 20+ hourly sessions.
