Deep Work

Definition

Focused, cognitively demanding work done without distraction, where you produce your highest-quality, most creative output. Coined by Cal Newport.

Why it matters

Most founders confuse being busy with being productive. Deep work sessions, even 2 hours per day, produce more meaningful results than 8 hours of reactive, distracted work.

Example

Every morning from 7-9am, you close all notifications, put your phone in another room, and work exclusively on your biggest business priority. No emails, no social media. That is deep work.
