Dropshipping

Definition

A fulfilment model where you sell products you do not physically hold, when an order is placed, a third-party supplier ships directly to your customer.

Why it matters

Dropshipping removes inventory risk entirely. You can test hundreds of products without upfront investment. The trade-off is lower margins and less control over packaging and delivery.

Example

You list a £35 LED lamp on your Shopify store. It costs £12 from your AliExpress supplier. A customer orders. Your supplier ships it directly to them. You pocket £23 minus platform fees.
