Engagement Rate

Definition

The percentage of your audience that actively interacts with your content, likes, comments, shares, saves, relative to your reach or follower count.

Why it matters

High engagement signals to algorithms that your content is valuable, increasing organic reach. Brands also use engagement rate to evaluate influencer partnerships.

Example

You have 5,000 Instagram followers. A post gets 300 likes and 40 comments. Engagement rate = 340 ÷ 5,000 × 100 = 6.8%. Above 3% is considered strong.
