Subscriptions & Recurring Revenueintermediate
Failed Payments
Involuntary churn
Definition
Subscription charges that do not go through, usually because a card expired or was declined, also called involuntary churn.
Why it matters
This is revenue you already earned that quietly slips away for a fixable reason. Recovering failed payments through retries and reminders often wins back money faster than any new marketing.
Example
Six subscribers renew this week but three cards are declined, so three payments fail and need retrying.
