Feature Flag
Definition
A software development technique that allows a feature to be turned on or off remotely, enabling gradual rollouts, A/B tests, or instant rollbacks without deploying new code.
Why it matters
Feature flags reduce deployment risk by letting you release to a small percentage of users first, or disable a broken feature instantly without a code deployment.
Example
A SaaS company releases a new dashboard to 10% of users first. After 48 hours, with no bugs reported, they flip the flag to 100%.
