Financial Forecast
Definition
A projection of your expected income, expenses, and cash position over a future period, usually 3, 6, or 12 months.
Why it matters
A forecast lets you spot cash shortfalls before they happen and plan accordingly, whether that means cutting costs, raising prices, or securing a business loan.
Example
You project: Q4 revenue £18,000, COGS £5,400, overheads £3,200, marketing £1,800. Expected profit: £7,600. If Black Friday underperforms, your forecast shows how quickly cash becomes tight.
