First-Party Data
Definition
Data collected directly from your own customers and audience through your own channels, such as website analytics, email signups, purchase history, and survey responses, without intermediary platforms.
Why it matters
Third-party data is becoming less reliable due to privacy regulations and cookie deprecation. First-party data is the most accurate, most trusted, and most sustainable data asset a business can build.
Example
A founder collects purchase history, email engagement data, and survey responses from her 3,000 customers. This first-party data allows her to personalise recommendations and segment her marketing far more effectively than relying on platform targeting alone.
