Flash Sale

Definition

A time-limited sale, usually 24-72 hours, offering significant discounts to create urgency and drive a spike in sales.

Why it matters

Flash sales reactivate dormant customers, clear slow-moving inventory, and generate a rapid revenue injection. They are best used strategically, not constantly.

Example

You email your list: "48-hour sale, 30% off everything, ends Sunday midnight." Dormant customers who have not bought in 6 months convert at 8-12% during a compelling flash sale.
