Founder-Market Fit
Definition
The degree to which a founder is uniquely positioned to build a specific business based on their personal experience, obsession, network, or deep domain insight.
Why it matters
Investors and advisors often look for founder-market fit as a signal that the right person is building the right thing. Founders with genuine fit have an insight edge, a credibility advantage, and intrinsic motivation that sustains them through difficulty.
Example
A former intensive care nurse building a healthcare scheduling software platform has strong founder-market fit. She understands the problem viscerally, has domain credibility, and personal motivation that most outsiders could not replicate.
