Definition
The complete process of receiving an order, picking and packing the product, and shipping it to the customer.
Why it matters
Fulfilment speed and accuracy directly affects customer satisfaction, reviews, and repeat purchase rates. Slow or error-prone fulfilment is one of the fastest ways to destroy an e-commerce brand.
Example
You receive 50 orders on a Saturday. Fulfilment is processing each order, packaging every item, printing shipping labels, and handing them to the courier, all before the Monday cut-off.
