Gross Sales

Definition

The total amount of money you took from sales before any deductions like refunds, discounts or fees are removed.

Why it matters

Gross sales show your top-line demand, but on their own they can flatter you, so always read them alongside net sales and profit.

Example

In a month you take £20,000 in orders before refunds and discounts, so your gross sales are £20,000.
