Information Overload

Definition

A state in which a person is exposed to more information than they can effectively process, resulting in decision paralysis, anxiety, reduced productivity, and difficulty distinguishing important from unimportant inputs.

Why it matters

Founders are especially vulnerable to information overload due to the constant stream of advice, news, courses, and content available to them. Developing a filter system for what deserves attention is a critical productivity skill.

Example

A founder subscribes to twelve newsletters, follows 200 business accounts, and saves articles to read later but never does. She audits her information diet, cuts it by 80%, and focuses on a single trusted source per topic, immediately reclaiming mental clarity and decision-making capacity.
