Intellectual Property

Definition

Legal protections for creations of the mind, including trademarks (brand names), copyright (original content), patents (inventions), and design rights (product appearance).

Why it matters

Without IP protection, competitors can legally copy your brand name, content, product design, or invention. Registering key IP creates a legal moat around your business assets.

Example

Your course content is automatically protected by copyright. Your brand name needs a trademark registration. Your unique product design can be protected by a registered design right. Each requires different action.
