K-Factor

Definition

A measure of viral growth showing how many new users each existing user brings in through invitations or sharing.

Why it matters

A K-factor above one means each user brings more than one new user, so the product grows on its own without paid marketing.

Example

Every 10 users invite friends who sign up as 12 new users, giving a K-factor of 1.2 and self-sustaining growth.
