Lifecycle Email
Definition
Automated email messages triggered by specific moments in a customer's journey with a brand, such as sign-up, first purchase, anniversary, or inactivity, designed to be relevant to where the customer is right now.
Why it matters
Lifecycle emails are among the highest-converting marketing touchpoints because they are triggered by behaviour rather than sent to everyone on a schedule. A message that arrives exactly when a customer needs it converts at multiples of broadcast emails.
Example
A founder sets up lifecycle emails for her membership: a welcome email on day one, a tips email on day three, a community introduction on day seven, a check-in at day 30, and a renewal reminder 14 days before expiry. Each email is relevant to exactly where the member is in their journey.
