Live Streaming

Definition

Broadcasting video content in real time to an online audience through platforms such as Instagram Live, YouTube Live, LinkedIn Live, or Twitch, enabling immediate interaction between creator and viewers.

Why it matters

Live streaming creates a sense of urgency and authenticity that pre-recorded content cannot replicate. The real-time interaction builds parasocial connection faster and drives algorithmic amplification on most platforms, as live content is prioritised in feeds.

Example

A founder goes live on Instagram every Wednesday morning to answer questions from her community. The broadcasts consistently reach more non-followers than her regular posts, grow her audience by 200 per month organically, and strengthen her relationship with existing followers through direct interaction.
