Long-Tail Keywords

Definition

Longer, more specific search phrases, typically 3-5 words. That have lower search volume but higher intent and lower competition than broad keywords.

Why it matters

Long-tail keywords attract visitors who know exactly what they want. A blog ranking for "vegan protein powder for women over 40" converts far better than one ranking for "protein powder."

Example

Instead of targeting "accounting software" (extremely competitive), a startup targets "accounting software for freelancers", ranking on page one within weeks.
