Manufacturing

Definition

The process of physically making your product, whether that is a factory producing units at scale or a small workshop hand-making them one at a time.

Why it matters

Your manufacturing choice sets your minimum order quantity, your unit cost, your lead time and your quality control. Getting it wrong is expensive and slow to fix once stock is on order.

Example

A founder starts hand-making candles at home, then moves manufacturing to a local factory once monthly orders pass 500 units, trading a higher MOQ for a much lower unit cost.
