Market Validation

Definition

The process of confirming that real people will actually pay for your product or service, before you invest significant time or money building it.

Why it matters

Most failed businesses built something nobody wanted. Validation is the discipline of testing demand before commitment. A pre-sale, waitlist, or paid prototype is validation. An idea in your head is not.

Example

Before building a full course, you create a landing page and run £50 of ads. 14 people sign up to be notified when it launches. That's initial validation. There is demand.
