Markup
Definition
The amount you add on top of what a product costs you, usually shown as a percentage of that cost, to set your selling price.
Why it matters
Understanding markup makes sure every sale covers your costs and leaves profit, so you do not accidentally price yourself out of a living.
Example
If a bracelet costs you £4 to make and you sell it for £12, that is a 200 percent markup.
