Meta Pixel

Definition

A piece of tracking code you place on your website that records actions visitors take after clicking a Meta (Instagram/Facebook) ad, purchases, sign-ups, add-to-carts.

Why it matters

Without Meta Pixel, you are running ads blind. With it, Meta learns who your buyers are and can find more people like them through machine learning.

Example

You run an Instagram ad. Someone clicks it, visits your Shopify store, and buys. Meta Pixel records that purchase and feeds the data back to your ad algorithm.
