Mind Map

Definition

A visual thinking tool that organises information radially around a central concept, branching outward into related ideas, helping to explore a topic comprehensively and reveal connections between concepts.

Why it matters

Linear notes capture information sequentially but miss connections. Mind maps mirror how the brain naturally associates ideas, making them particularly powerful for brainstorming, planning, and understanding complex topics quickly.

Example

A founder creating a new programme uses a mind map to explore the topic before writing any content. She places "six-figure coaching business" at the centre, then branches into mindset, client acquisition, offer design, delivery, and systems. Each branch reveals subtopics, gaps, and connections that a linear outline would have missed.
