Monorepo

Definition

A single repository containing multiple projects or packages that are related, for example, a web app, a mobile app, and shared components in one GitHub repo.

Why it matters

Monorepos simplify sharing code across multiple products and coordinating releases. They're used by large companies but increasingly adopted by startups building across web and mobile.

Example

A founder's company has one monorepo: the Next.js web app, a React Native mobile app, and a shared design system, all versioned together, changes visible across all products.
