On-Page SEO
Definition
Search engine optimisation activities applied directly to a webpage's content and HTML, including keyword usage, title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure, internal linking, and image optimisation.
Why it matters
On-page SEO ensures search engines can read, understand, and rank your content correctly. Even exceptional writing will underperform in search if basic on-page elements are missing or poorly configured.
Example
A founder optimises a blog post by including her target keyword in the title, first paragraph, and one subheading. She writes a compelling meta description, compresses all images with descriptive alt text, and links to three related posts on her site.
