Organic Reach

Definition

The number of unique people who see a piece of content through non-paid distribution, including followers, algorithmic recommendations, shares, and search results.

Why it matters

Organic reach represents free distribution earned through content quality and platform algorithms. Understanding what drives organic reach in each channel allows founders to generate significant audience growth without advertising spend.

Example

A founder posts a detailed LinkedIn article that receives 4,200 views with zero ad spend. Of those, 800 come from her existing connections and 3,400 come from the LinkedIn algorithm amplifying the content to non-followers based on early engagement signals. The 3,400 are her organic reach beyond her existing audience.
