P&L Statement

Profit and Loss Statement

Definition

A financial report summarising your revenues, costs, and expenses over a specific period, showing whether your business made or lost money.

Why it matters

A P&L is the most important financial document in your business. It tells you what's working, what's costing you money, and whether your business model is actually viable.

Example

Your monthly P&L shows: Revenue £8,000 | COGS £2,400 | Gross Profit £5,600 | Overheads £2,100 | Net Profit £3,500. Clean and simple.
