Patch Test
Definition
A small skin test done before using a new beauty or skincare product fully, to check for a reaction. A little product is applied to a discreet area and left for a set time to make sure the skin tolerates it.
Why it matters
Recommending or selling skincare without advising a patch test is both a safety and a liability risk. Building it into your guidance protects customers and shows you take their wellbeing seriously.
Example
A beauty brand adds a clear patch-test instruction to every product page and welcome email so customers try a new serum safely.
