Pitch Competition
Definition
An event where founders present their business idea or early-stage company to a panel of judges, typically competing for investment, prizes, or mentorship.
Why it matters
Pitch competitions build presentation skills, create warm introductions to investors, and provide validation through external feedback, even if you do not win.
Example
A founder enters a regional pitch competition. She does not win but her 5-minute pitch impresses a judge who introduces her to an angel investor two weeks later.
