Pomodoro Technique

Definition

A time management method using 25-minute focused work sessions followed by a 5-minute break, named after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer used by its creator.

Why it matters

The Pomodoro Technique makes large tasks less daunting by breaking work into manageable intervals. It also creates natural rest points that maintain energy and focus throughout the day.

Example

A founder sets a timer for 25 minutes and focuses entirely on writing her sales page. No email, no phone. After four Pomodoros with short breaks, she completes a task she had been avoiding for a week.
